Scratch: The Ultimate DJ(Xbox 360)
Word has it that DJ Hero will focus more on mixing tracks in real time, and Scratch will be more about, well, scratching.
From Kotaku:Improvisation occurs in another of the Scratch’s segments, as portions of the note highway will encourage turntable tricks, not just button presses. This is where the “chika chika fantasy” comes in, with some 15 to 20 tricks available on the controller’s spinning wheel. The DJ will be able to throw in sounds from a pre-picked “battle record” which can be packed with custom beats, quirky sound effects or even custom-recorded sounds via a USB microphone.
Artists with original or licensed tracks in Scratch include - in order of my personal interest - Gorillaz, Eric B. and Rakim (“Don’t Sweat the Technique”, swheet!), Beastie Boys, Run DMC, Deltron 3030. Oh. and Karaoke Kanye…..» Full Story on NYU Music Games .

Scratch: The Ultimate DJ(Xbox 360)
I told you earlier today that the DJ video game wars were brewing. Right now I would say we are at Code Yellow still as things are starting to get interesting but so far no innocent hip-hop gamers have been hurt. Earlier today we showed you the first trailer to Scratch: The Ultimate DJ and now Activision’s DJ Hero has responded in kind…» Full Story on Wooha .

Scratch: The Ultimate DJ(Xbox 360)
It’s been a badly kept secret, but the games-playing world now has the first official confirmation that there will be a DJ-based spinoff from the Guitar Hero franchise. The game’s site has just launched, though it doesn’t tell us anything other than that it will be available for X-Box, Playstation and Wii…» Full Story on Geeks Are Sexy .

Scratch: The Ultimate DJ(Xbox 360)
7 Studios is hoping to bring the thrill of live DJing home with Scratch: The Ultimate DJ, the rhythm game that aims for the digital rock ‘n’ roll fantasy of Guitar Hero, only on turntables.
Scratch: The Ultimate DJ looks to borrow heavily (and intelligently) from the Guitar Hero and Rock Band style of play, with a note highway that melts off an on-screen LP, aping the interface from the already successful guitar god games. What Scratch hopes to improve upon is the Guitar Hero-style rock fantasy, adding improvisation and music personalization.
We got a chance to take a look at the game in action, along with its prototype controller, during a demo at 7 Studios.
Creative lead Dan Lerich guided us through our first Scratch: The Ultimate DJ experience, explaining that the game was born of his classical music training, his expertise in midi programming and Berkeley School of Music education — plus a taste for live DJing…... » Full Story on Consoleer

Scratch: The Ultimate DJ(Xbox 360)
It’s easy to say that your game is going to be bigger than Guitar Hero, especially when you’re Mix Master Mike . That’s exactly what the Beastie Boys DJ proclaimed to MTV Multiplayer recently to describe his involvement in the upcoming Guitar Hero-like DJ music game.
But does that mean it will be so? I’d say Mix Master Mike is being a bit of a Master Meathead.
I would love for Scratch: The Ultimate DJ to succeed. But the magical elixir that made Guitar Hero so fantastic wasn’t concocted by Neversoft nor Activision. It was made by a smart, technically tuned, laser-focused development team by the name of Harmonix, who created two unique music games, Frequency and Amplitude, well before Guitar Hero’s popular explosion.
Yes, the real chemistry between the music game came with the addition of the guitar, Harmonix’s smart gameplay, and the ability to play popular music. Activision sees all these elements and sees dollar signs. But in the same way that Konami’s offshoots of Bemani games weren’t always successful, and DJ-ing not being as universally poised in the world’s imaginations as a guitar hero, Scratch may very well the Wakeboarding Unleashed Featuring Shaun Murray of the music games category….. » Full Story on Doug Insano

The music rhythm game genre is about to expand into hip-hop. Genius Products and developer Seven Studios have been working with legendary music producer with Quincy Jones III to create “Scratch: The Ultimate DJ.”
And to lend his expertise to the game, which uses a turntable peripheral, they’ve enlisted all-star DJ Mix Master Mike (whose real name is Michael Schwartz) of Beastie Boys fame. But when he was first introduced to “Scratch,” the champion turntablist wasn’t sure what to make of it.
“Of course, I was pretty skeptical when they told me about it,” said Schwartz in a recent phone interview. “But in the initial meeting when they first showed it to me, it was actually kind of dope; I was pretty surprised.”..... » Full Story on Game Huddle

Scratch: The Ultimate DJ(Xbox 360)
Still have room for another game controller amidst your piles of plastic guitars? The upcoming game Scratch: The Ultimate DJ features a turntable-style controller, giving hip hop fans and budding DJs a chance to achieve virtual fame.
Despite the familiar interface, the gameplay isn’t quite Guitar Hero meets hip hop. Yes, just as in other music games you’re pushing colored buttons to earn points as songs play. But Scratch rewards user-creativity over rote memorization, allowing players to transform the songs they’re playing into something all their own.
I’ve yet to get behind the wheel of steel myself, but the game’s creator recently dropped by Wired’s office to give us a first-hand look at a decidedly different take on the rhythm-music genre… » Full Story on Social Median
